The present perfect tense
Michael Johns is a 19-year-old Australian. Before beginning his university studies, he is on a backpacking trip through Europe. His travel itinerary looks like this:

Today is 30 May and Michael is almost at the end of his trip. He is sitting in a café on the Piazza di Spagna and writing in his journal.
"My trip is almost over. I am a bit tired, but no wonder when I look back at what I have been doing lately.
I have been travelling a lot by aeroplane.

I have been doing a lot of sightseeing.
I (2)I am still travelling, so I can visit more sights. The temporary result is 6 countries.have visited sights in 6 countries(2) so far.
I have been meeting a lot of interesting people.
I have met 2 interesting people here in Rome.
After walking round so much, I have been losing weight.
I have lost 3 kilograms in the last 6 weeks.
I have been learning phrases in different languages.
I have learnt phrases in three languages.
I have been collecting information about European history.
I have collected 3 books on this topic.
The sun has been shining a lot since I arrived.
It has shone every day since I arrived.
I have been talking to friends back home.
I have talked to 6 friends regularly.
I look forward to telling everyone back home about my trip and showing them my photos. I hope to stay in touch with the people I' ve met and come back to Europe soon!"
