Questions in the Indirect Speech
In the construction of questions in indirect speech it depends in the exact kind of question wheter to use direct speech or indirect speech.
Questions in direct speech:

Questions in indirect speech:
| start with “if/whether”; | start with the same word as in direct speech |
| Anna wanted to know ... | Anna wanted to know ... |
| ...if I was ready. | ... why I was not ready. |
| ... if Tom was in School. | ... where Tom was. |
| ... if I had a new haircut. | ... how I liked her new heircut. |
| ... if I had bought a new car. | ... I liked my new car. |
Notice: An indirect question is no real question in the english language, so do not put a question mark.
